Day 8: Buckland, Richmond and Bruny Island 14th March 2011

After leaving Triabunna we made a quick stop at the old town of Buckland, not much there but a pub and a church The Buckland Inn 1845
The St John the Baptist Church foundation stone was laid on 22 August 1846. The only time you get me in a church is if its very old and i can explore the inside of it at my leisure. This is a lovely old church inside and is surrounded by graves.
I love the old lead lights in the churches and if you can get them at the right time you can get some magnificent shots, i also love walking around inside old buildings.
We left Buckland and head straight for Historic Richmond, my camera card was playing up but managed to retrieve some shots and repair them a little in photoshop.

The date plaque says it all

We made a dash from Richmond down through Hobart and south to Kettering to Catch the Bruny Island Ferry The Mirrambeena:

The ferry crossing takes 15 minutes and is $28 return for a standard vehicle, payable with cash. Views from The Mirrambeena:
Arrived South Bruny Island only to find Captain James Cook beat us to it
Only time left in the day for a quick look around before we get into some hiking tomorrow. The Beach at Adventure Bay: South Bruny Island Tasmania
Went for a drive on steep dirt roads over the mountain range from Adventure Bay to Lunawanna and return, all for the sake of fish and chips. This view is from a lookout where we had dinner, looking out towards North Bruny and the Neck: South Bruny Island Tasmania
A couple of travelers who came before us. Time to head back to our rented Caravan and a few beers. I got a 6pack at the pub on the hill as you come off the ferry, cost was $22 for 1/2 a D so be warned if traveling to Bruny Island:

The following day we explored South and North Bruny by car and on foot
