Trip To Tasmania day 10 Bruny Island To Strachan 16 th March 2011.

After leaving Sth Bruny in the dark and traveling through Hobart in the peak hour and some breakfast in Hamilton, we pulled off the highway to the old Hydro town of Tarraleigh which today is pretty much a ghost town but with some preserved old houses, just follow the pipes.
The water sure gets some pace up down this hill:
Now we are getting in a amongst the views that wont stop all day, the mountains loom in the distance:
Mt King William I Saddle, Wild Rivers National Park
Time to get amongst the twisties for the whole day:
I want to do some 2 day hiking in here at some stage, the wilderness is mind blowing:

Decide at this point i need to go for a hike:

Couldnt think of a better place for a few hours walking:
Time to cross the River and get amongst the native forest:
Lots of steep sections but the track is good:
Well maintained track as most of them seem to be in Tassie:
Old logging is evident deep in the rainforest:
Franklin River: Wilderness Hwy 16th March 2011
Area around Frenchmans cap, you can hike for weeks in here alas a few hours is all i got:
Next stop is an easy hike into Nelson Falls, cold and damp is an understatement:
Back on the road and a quick look at Lake Burbury, theres a camping ground here and there wasnt many in it, well worth a stop over:
Not far from Queenstown the hills start to look like a nuclear bomb has gone off:

 Old deserted pub near Queenstown:
Just east of Queenstown and mans destruction of a landscape, removing all the trees to fire the copper smelters, a must see on how not to work the land. Wilderness Hwy 16th March 2011
Breaking out of the doom and gloom you see back to how the place should look, between Queenstown and Strauchan: We went from here to Strauchan for the night leaving Strauchan and it surroounds for another trip as its a very tourist attraction type of place and you need your wallet full of $$$$, we also have a big day the next day in the wilderness traveling the the West Coast on the gravel roads.
The only picture i took in Strauchan
A short movie of the days travels

Next up we travel the rugged west coast on rough gravel roads and a trip on the Fatman ferry across the Pieman river
